Korean Baritone Dong-Hwan Lee is a member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper Berlin since the season 2015/16 where he will perfome Eacamillo/Carmen with Star-Tenor Roberto Alagna, Girgio Germont in La Traviata, Thoré/Maurevert in Meyerbeer's Les Hugenots with Juan Diego Flórez, Heerrufer in Lohengrin, Andrej Schtschelkalow in Boris Godunow.

In the 2014/15 season, Mr. Lee sang the role of Monterone in Rigoletto at the Royal Opera House. He also appeared as Altgeselle in Jenufa and Vater in Hänsel und Gretel in Theater Augsburg and Heerrufer in Lohengrin. Additionally this season, he performed the role of Le Comte Monterone in Rigoletto at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulose.

During the season 2013/14 Dong-Hwan Lee made his role debut in Theater Augsburg as Golaud in a new production of Pelléas et Mélisande and sang the title role in Verdi's Simon Boccanegra. He was also heard as Marcello in a revival of La boheme and Leporello in the revival of Don Giovanni.

In the season 2012/13 his new roles in Augsburg were Marcello in La Boheme, Leporello in Don Giovanni and Germont in the revival of La traviata, to name but a few. Dong-Hwan joined the ensemble of the Theater Augsburg in the 2011/12 season and appeared in roles like Germont (La Traviata), Escamillo (Carmen), Tierbändiger (Lulu) and Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro).

He was a member of the International Opera Studio at the Staatsoper Hamburg from 2009 until 2011 where he appeared as Schaunard in La Boheme, Monterone in Rigoletto, Paolo Albianiin Simon Boccanegra, Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte, Clerk in Death in Venice and Fleville in Andrea Chenier.

Dong-Hwan Lee has been awarded prizes in various international competitions, such as the First Prize at the 32nd International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Amsterdam 2013, First Prize at the Queen Sonja competition (Oslo), 2nd Prize at the Toulouse International Singing competition (Toulouse), Special Prize at the Francisco Vinas competition (Barcelona), First Prize at the Beniamino Gigli International Singing Competition (Rome) and Third Prize at the Maria Callas International Singing competition (Athens).

Engagement :
Royal Covent Garden, Hamburgische Staatsoper, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Theater Augsburg, Theater Heidelberg, Seoul Art Center, Daegu Operahouse, Philharmonie Oslo,The Kirsten Flagstad Festival. Concert engagements have included Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Oslo Symphony Orchestra, Faure’s Requiem at Daegu Opera House. He has performed solo recitals in Oslo and Daegu.

He began voice-studies in his hometown baritone moved to Germany, where he studied at the Music Academy in Hamburg with Prof. Geert Smits.
