Jusung Gabriel PARK
BASS BARITONE
Jusung Gabirel Park is a young promising bass-baritone from South Korea who has been emerging on stage with characterful presence and flexibility of the voice. He is a member of the Wiener Staatsoper Opernstudio for the 2022/2023, 2023/2024 season.

Jusung received 3rd prize at the Plácido Domingo’s Operalia Competition at 2021. In the same year Jusung also represented his country and sang in the ‘BBC Cardiff Singer of the World’ competition. Jusung won numerous competitions in Korea including: 3rd prize in Schubert Lied competition, and Silver prize (Korean National Opera music director award) in The Korea National Opera Competition.

Jusung has a special affinity in Lied and Oratorio Repertoire. In 2021, he participated in the recording of Liederabend for the Bayerischer Rundfunk. He also appeared as principal artist in Chuncheon International Early Music Festival, where he sang Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben (BWV 147) as soloist. He performed bass solo of Johannes Passion (BWV 245) in a few different productions including Myeongdong Catholic Cathedral and in Yonsei University. Besides, Jusung Park performs regularly at Luce Chapel Yonsei, where he was soloist of Christen ätzet diesen tag (BWV 63), A Dvorak's Mass in D (op.86), Weihnachtsoratorium (BWV248) and G. Faure's Requiem.

Jusung has featured in the different opera productions in Theater Rudolstadt with collaboration of Thüringer Symphoniker Orchestra. He performed the title role of Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro and the role of Leporello in Don Giovanni. In 2021, he performed in the Opera Gala Concert with the Nürnberg Symphoniker.

Jusung participated in the Festival d'Aix - en Provence’s voice program. And he also attended the International Meistersinger Akademie (IMA) under the guidance of Edith Wiens.

In 2022, Jusung will have his debut with the Bayerischen Rundfunk Chor & Orchestra in Mendelssohn’s Elias. He is also scheduled to have his Liederabend in Festwochen Gmunden with world renowned pianist Helmut Deutsch.

He did his vocal studies at the Yonsei University and mdw, under the guidance of Chang-gon Kim, Kwang-dong Kim, Hei-kyung Hong, Florian Boesch and Margit Klaushofer.
